In coordination with the Terhalle group of companies from Ahaus-Ottenstein, we were able to support this exciting and unique day care center. After initial drafts for the planned new building had already been drawn up, we were able to adopt, refine and support the exciting ideas until they were ready for approval.
A public day care center has been built on the property of Forschungszentrum Jülich. Around 2,000 square meters of total building space and around 6,000 square meters of outdoor space are now available to young people aged between four months and 14 years in the new home of the “Little Foxes”. A total of 127 children in different group types can grow, discover, play and learn here with different childcare periods.
The project is characterized by four large tent houses, in which the eight different care groups are located.
Each tent roof functions as a small private house: group and side rooms, sanitary areas, cloakroom and central play and exercise facilities.
All are located on the central core of the building, which connects the areas together. The spacious corridors and the central marketplace support opportunities for children of different age groups to meet.
In addition to the exercise areas in the building, the outdoor area is characterized by a natural design of the play areas. In addition to the areas for the very young, the soccer field should not be missed.
The building is designed as a timber frame — modern, environmentally friendly and sustainable. The quiet and cozy atmosphere of wood as a building material is reflected in the exterior façade, but also throughout the interior — from the floor to the acoustic ceilings to the lovingly designed built-in furniture.
With the Parents' Initiative and the almost 40 employees, they have found an furnishing provider who operates this building with an exciting concept: learning with all senses, an open concept among age groups, exercise and sport, but also a healthy diet.
For example, the establishment has a fresh kitchen with its own bistro.
