A new chapter for the train station district in Borken

Hardly any other part of the district town of Borken has changed as much in recent years as the area of the train station.

In addition to the demolition and redesign of the station area, the creation of the central bus station and the expansion of transport connections between the city center and the industrial park on Gelsenkirchener Straße.

The old post office building in the south of the area is one of the few puzzle pieces that will complete the transformations of the area in the next few years.

A modern, open residential complex is planned, which, with 32 units in various sizes, offers a flexible apartment adapted to every age group.

On the ground floor, the project is supplemented by commercial use — from tax advisors to lawyers, uses in the service sector are possible here.

The building has an underground car park, which provides the required parking space certificate. In addition, sufficient parking spaces for visitors are provided in the aboveground area. The residential building is characterized by classic red Münsterland brick. The spacious window fronts offer a bright and open character, which provides the interiors with sufficient daylight.

With its anthracite curtain wall, the staggered floor contrasts with the red brick.

The spacious communal stairwell welcomes residents and encourages them to communicate with their fellow human beings. The courtyard provides additional lighting to the corridors.

The new building now gives the site a new face to the south and marks the start of urban planning towards the city center. Embedded in green areas, equipped with green roofs and the use of renewable energy, the building also makes a contribution to the topic of ecology and sustainability.

"The days of the post office building on Bahnhofstrasse in Borken are numbered: The building is to be demolished and replaced by a complex with 32 apartments and two shops. According to the Specht Group, the investment volume on Bahnhofstrasse is around 14 million euros." (Borken Newspaper 18.08.2021)
