Renovation of the listed Villa Grüter, Borken
Our office is proud to start renovating the listed Villa Grüter on Heidener Straße in Borken and thus setting new standards in monument protection. Built around 1880, the villa has significant historical value for the city. In collaboration with local authorities, we plan to transform the building into a multi-generation house, while maintaining the historic integrity of the building.

Heritage revived: renovation of Villa Grüter in Borken
With the acquisition of the H. Grüter villa building on Heidener Straße in Borken, our office is breaking new ground in the area of monument protection.
The building was added to the City of Borken's list of monuments at the beginning of this year.
The monument value relates to the outer structure, the inner structure and the details of the construction period.
The exact date of construction of the villa building is currently unknown. The year of construction is presumed to be around 1880.
In close cooperation with the Lower Heritage Authority of the City of Borken, in coordination with the LWL (Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe) and our team, the building is to be converted into a residential building for three generations.
Excerpt from the protection procedure under monument protection in NRW:
“The residential building [...] is an architectural monument within the meaning of § 2, paragraph 1 DschG NRW. There is a public interest in maintaining and permanently using Villa Grüter.
This public interest is based initially — in the area of meaning category — on local historical reasons. It is important for the history of the people, here the people in Borken, because it was the villa-like residential building of a leading figure in local economic life, who built up a textile factory even during economically tense times.

Villa Grüter is also important for cities and settlements and has particular significance for the building history of the city of Borken. The building documents the historical development process of the city, in this case the expansion of the city on the east side of the old town in the form of a district with free-standing villas on the (former) Gemener Chaussee. ”
